Christmas Eve Book Gifts

Happy Holidays, Merry Chrismukkah! Here’s a video in which I talk about surprise gifts on Christmas eve. Everyone I sent a gift should have opened them by now so I can share this video more widely. I love reading and I love talking about books, so it seemed like an excellent idea to give some of my friends books. In The Netherlands a lot of people do gifts at Sinterklaas (earlier in December) among them me and my friends, so they weren’t expecting to get a gift for Christmas.

It was really hard not to tell them that I sent it. Elsbeth rightly suspected me. They wouldn’t know I gave it until they opened it, and they had to wait to open it until Christmas eve. Anne asked me several times yesterday if was Christmas eve yet. (She knew I sent it.) In the end she decided that her ‘eve’ started at 4 pm. 😀 And Marlies and Matthijs filmed themselves opening their gifts so I could see their initial response, which was so lovely! (Matthijs did get The Beauty, it arrived in the nick of time.)

Do you have any Christmas reading traditions? I would love to know all the different Christmas reading you do!

  • Awesome idea! I like the idea of more book giving (and receiving ;)). I hope your friends love the books you picked, I know I would be happy with them. As I said on my DIY post, I haven't read The Book Thief yet, it been on my "unread" shelf for months. Shame on me. But I still look forward to reading it. 🙂

    • I have so many books that I’ve yet to read so I know the feeling! Well, I can definitely recommend The Book Thief! I’m sure you’ll love it when you get around to reading it.
